Our film club screens movies and documentaries that show what it is to be a journalist – and why the job matters.

The National Union of Journalists Manchester and Salford teamed up with Three Minute Theatre to show a unique selection of films revealing the ethical and professional challenges journalists face.

Organiser Rachel Broady said: “Journalists and journalism are under scrutiny more than ever before and it’s sometimes thanks to films like Spotlight that we’re reminded of the importance of the work journalists do and the challenges they face.

“We hope that by screening a selection of films – some less well known than others – we can reveal something of the industry and the people who work in it. We love journalism and this is a small way in which we can defend and support it.”

Three Minute Theatre is a small, 70-seat independent theatre, cinema and music venue in the city centre, established in 2010. It has a licensed bar.

Everyone is welcome: the film screenings are open to National Union of Journalists members and non-members.
